January 5 Toronto The Crown Attorney laid charges against Pink Triangle Press (PTP), the non-profit publisher of the Body Politic, and its officers Gerald Hannon (treasurer), Ed Jackson (secretary), and Ken Popert (president), under section 159 (use of the mails for the distribution of obscene material) and section 164 (possession of obscene material for the purpose of distribution) of the Canadian Criminal Code. The first charge related to the December 1977–January 1978 issue of the Body Politic, containing Gerald Hannon's article "Men Loving Boys Loving Men." The second related to PTP's book service, which distributed the book Loving Man, by Dr. Mark Freedman and Harvey Mays.
