Description

December 17 Vancouver Recommendations concerning the treatment of gay clubs and bars by police, licensing and inspection officers, and other city officials were presented to City Council by the Standing Committee on Social Services. The recommendations had been formulated by members of SEARCH during November, in the wake of controversy over the harassment of gay bars and clubs in Vancouver at the end of October. Some members of GATE (Vancouver) were unhappy with the proposals, claiming that they had not been consulted adequately and that the real problem was the homophobic attitude of police and government officials. (see also May 1975.)
