Description

February 11 Winnipeg Richard North, twenty-two, and Chris Vogel, twenty-six, were married by Rev. Norman Naylor of the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship. This was the second time a gay couple sought legal sanction in Canada. The marriage was not recognized by the province when North and Vogel attempted to have the union recorded as a vital statistic. The province's refusal to recognize the marriage was publicly supported by the executive committee of the Canadian section of the Lutheran Church in America. (see also December 17,1974.)
