Biography

Tom Warner is an author and Canadian gay rights activist. He was involved with several gay organizations in Saskatoon, and after moving to Ontario became a key member of Gay Alliance Towards Equality (GATE) in Toronto. Warner formed the Coalition for Gay Rights in Ontario (CGRO) initiative with the particular goal of amending the Ontario Human Rights Code to include protections based on sexual orientation. He was involved with the Body Politic, the Committee to Defend John Damien, the Right To Privacy Committee, and others. During the 90s he served as the Ontario Human Rights Commissioner, the first openly gay man to do so in Canada. Warner is the author of Never Going Back, a book on historical Canadian queer activism.
