Description
August 19 Ottawa Marie Robertson and Ron Dayman of GO met with the Ottawa Board of Control to present the brief "Civil Rights of Homosexuals in City Employment" and to make an oral presentation calling for a ruling barring discrimination based on sexual orientation in the employment of municipal workers. Mayor Lorry Greenberg said that the city solicitor and personnel department would examine the brief. After much delay the matter was sent before the full city council for consideration and on April 5, 1976, Ottawa became the second Canadian city to officially ban discrimination based on sexual orientation in municipal employment.
