Description
March 28 Halifax Five representatives of GAE met with the Nova Scotia Human Rights Commission to discuss the brief that they had presented to members of the Nova Scotia Legislature on March 5, which concerned the inclusion of sexual orientation in the provincial Human Rights Act. The Commission decided not to recommend that the Act be changed at that time, citing several reasons but particularly because the Commission was not aware of enough cases of discrimination against gays to warrant immediate action. The Legal Reform Committee of GAE immediately undertook a campaign to document cases of discrimination against lesbians and gay men in Nova Scotia.
