Biography
Bob Green was the husband of fundamentalist Christian and former beauty queen Anita Bryant. His family and the organization they founded, Save Our Children Inc., lobbied against gay rights in the USA and faced backlash across North America. Their organization used fearmongering based on the myth of the homosexual as a child molester for political impetus. On June 7, 1977 the public referendum they had lobbied for in Dade County, Florida, led to a repeal on a county ordinance that prohibited discrimination based on "affectional or sexual preference" for housing, public accommodations, and employment. Green and Bryant were officially divorced on Aug. 15, 1980 after twenty years together.
