September 13 Toronto Ontario Attorney General Roy McMurtry announced that the government would introduce legislation to create a civilian review panel of alleged police wrongdoing. McMurtry's action followed continuing pressure from minority community groups in the wake of the police killing of Albert Johnson on August 26, 1979.
