Description
April 30 Winnipeg Three hundred fifty people demonstrated during a visit by Anita Bryant to the Winnipeg Convention Centre, sponsored by Renaissance Manitoba. This was by far the largest gay demonstration to date in the city, and was organized by the CAAB. WDL sponsored a lesbian concert, which raised funds for the first Lesbian Mothers' Defense Fund (LMDF) in Winnipeg. Bryant's visit also garnered attention for the newly formed organization Manitoba Physicians for Homosexual Understanding, a pro-gay group of six male doctors dedicated to open discussion of homosexuality.
