October 23 Toronto The Committee to Defend John Damien, along with several other organizations and prominent individuals, sponsored a public meeting on the Damien case. About 200 people attended the meeting, held at the University of Toronto, which was addressed by fourteen speakers, including Damien, Harry Kopyto, Doug Wilson, and representatives of local lesbian and gay groups and institutions. Both Damien and Wilson received standing ovations.
