Description

March 18 Montréal The Front homosexuel Québécois de liberation (FHQL) was formed by gay francophones as an independent organization to counter the perceived inertia of the anglophone-dominated AHM/GMA. Peter Amyot, Patrick Cellier, and Gui Lavoie-Goyette were the early coordinators of FHQL. The group was interested in legal reform; its members appeared on television and in the press and gave public lectures. An associated collective worked on producing the publication Le coup-de-poing, which never appeared due to lack of funds. The FHQL failed by the end of 1974.
