Description

Autumn Burnaby, B.C. Gay People of SFU was formed at Simon Fraser University. Dr. Michael Eliot-Hurst of the Department of Geography was involved in establishing the group. Although it was formed with the intent of including both men and women, at first Gay People of SFU was almost exclusively male. Weekly meetings were held, as were various social gatherings. One of the early events was a talk by Del Martin and Phyllis Lyon, co-founders of the pioneering American lesbian organization The Daughters of Bilitis.
