Description
October 21 Toronto Peter Maloney ran as the Liberal candidate in the St. George riding against Ontario Attorney-General Allan Lawrence in the provincial election, held October 21. During the campaign, a group called the Ontario Campaign for Sexual Equality distributed a pamphlet urging lesbians and gays to vote for candidates who advocated sexual equality legislation. Maloney, an advocate of gay rights (but not yet a declared homosexual), waged a vigorous campaign but lost to Lawrence by a wide margin.
