Biography
Susan Fish was a member of the Progressive Conservative party. In March 1981, while running for the riding of St. George in Ontario, she attended an all-candidate meeting sponsored by the Association of Gay Electors. At this meeting, Fish broke from her party’s platform by supporting the addition of a gay rights amendment to the provincial human rights code. She also declared her support for an independent inquiry into the 1981 bathhouse raids. Fish won the riding nine days later with over 12,000 votes.
