January 7 Halifax In a letter to GAE, Peter Meggs, vice-president of audience and public relations for the CBC, confirmed the CBC's policy to refuse public service announcements on subjects deemed controversial, including homosexuality, on all of its English and French radio and television networks. This national policy was established after GAE had intervened in CRTC hearings concerning the licence renewal of radio station CBH, which had refused to air a public service announcement for GAE's Gayline.
