Biography
Doug Roche is a distinguished Canadian diplomat and peacemaker. He has a history of diplomat work with positions such as Canada's Ambassador for Disarmament (1984), Honorary President of the World Federation of the United Nations (1985), and United Nations, and as chairman of the United Nations Disarmament Committee (1988). He served as the Progressive Conservative Member of Parliament for Edmonton-Strathcona during the 1970s. In 1976, at a town hall meeting, Roche said "the rights of homosexuals are not a major priority for me at present" after being asked about if he would support gay civil rights protection in the House of Commons.
