Biography
Cecil Purves served on various boards such as the Edmonton Exhibition Association, Edmonton Symphony, Edmonton Chamber of Commerce, Canadian Mental Health Association, and Edmonton Jaycees. In a 1977 Edmonton civil election (which he won), he stated that protection of the rights of gay workers at City Hall was not a proper concern for municipal government.
