Description

April 23 Toronto Representatives from a coalition of twenty-three Toronto gay and lesbian organizations held a press conference at Toronto City Hall to reject the suggestion that the conspiracy charges brought against the community leaders and businessmen on April 22, 1981, suggested that the gay community itself was criminal. Rev. Brent Hawkes called on gays to protest continuing police harassment of the community. A rally in defence of the community was called for April 29, 1981, to be held at the 519 Community Centre.
