Description

September 22 Calgary Thomas Earl Nash, twenty-two, was murdered in Central Memorial Park, a popular gay cruising area. Nash was one of three straight men who had been abusing gay men in the park. Brian Christopher Hawkhurst and Greg Paul Spencer attacked the men, and Nash died in hospital after being slashed in the throat with a broken bottle. Hawkhurst and Spencer were charged with second-degree murder. (See also Summer 1980.)
