Description
April 20 Regina Bill 94, new legislation amending the provincial human rights code, was introduced in the Saskatchewan legislature but omitted protection based on sexual orientation. Reports suggested that the NDP government had been deterred by public opposition and by a fear that it would be seen as protecting one of its own after the Collver gay cabinet member accusations. In response, the SGC organized a protest demonstration at the Legislature on May 5. The seventy protesters were met by MLA Bill Allen, who tried to defend the government's position and referred to homosexuality as a "moral issue."
