September 25 Toronto The gay community information phone line service 923-GAYS began operation. It featured a day-by-day listing of gay community events known as the Gay Community Calendar. Harvey Hamburg managed 923-GAYS from its inception until September 1979, when Jim McNiel succeeded him.
