January Canada The short film Friday Night Adventure, written by Richard Benner and directed by Frank Vitale, was broadcast on CBC television. The gay "one-night stand" story was bold for the time, and included scenes in a gay bar and of cruising. CBC did not promote the film, but reported later that at least 187,000 viewers across Canada watched the show.
