June Halifax GAE signed a three-year lease of the Turret (1588 Barrington Street, third floor), for use as a gay community centre. GAE had been using the space, a former restaurant and coffee house in downtown Halifax, for its weekly disco and by the end of June 1977 was operating a full schedule of events there.
