April 16 Toronto The Committee to Defend John Damien held a conference at the CHAT hall to plan strategy, and particularly to discuss the enlistment of non-gays to support Damien's cause. About forty people attended the meeting, which was marred by procedural confusion. Several proposals were adopted, including the motion that the NGRC organize a national day of protest demanding John Damien's reinstatement.
