Description

January Halifax The Gay Alliance for Equality (GAE) started a discotheque, The Other Side, on Saturday nights at the Turret, a coffee house/restaurant located at 1588 Barrington Street, third floor. This was in response to a perceived lack of non-oppressive gathering places for gay people in Halifax. Admission was $1.50, and there was a liquor licence about every second week. The disco closed at the end of April 1976 but reopened in autumn 1976.
