March 14 Toronto During question period, MPP P.D. Lawlor (NDP - Lakeshore) asked Ontario's Minister of Consumer and Commercial Relations Sidney Handleman to make a statement on the case of John Damien, who was fired from his job with the Ontario Racing Commission for being gay. Mr. Handleman replied that he had "hoped this matter would not arise in the House," and reiterated the Ontario government's position that Damien "had been compromised by certain contacts."
