February 24 Saskatoon The University of Saskatchewan's student debating team sponsored a debate on gay marriage. Norman Naylor, the Unitarian minister from Winnipeg who had married Richard North and Chris Vogel in February 1974, spoke for the affirmative. Brian Thorpe, a United Church minister based at the University campus, spoke against the motion. The affirmative side won, 44-10.
