February 22 Waterloo, Ont. The Steering Committee ofCGRO met to discuss a common program for Ontario's gay groups. Eleven organizations were represented. The Committee adopted a founding statement that urged a public campaign to "obtain full civil and human rights for homosexual men and women."CGRO'S immediate goal was to press for protection from discrimination based on sexual orientation to be included in the Ontario Human Rights Code, CGRO also launched its first public action by establishing the Committee to Defend John Damien.
