July 4-7 Winnipeg A Gay Caucus was formed at the national NDP convention, held at the Winnipeg Convention Centre and attended by more than 1,600 delegates. The Gay Caucus campaigned for the election of Harold B. Desmarais of WGU, who was running for the NDP Federal Council on a gay rights platform (he was unsuccessful), and launched a campaign to mobilize support for gay rights resolutions in the NDP.
