Description

July 3 Montréal Labyris Montreal (formerly Montreal Gay Women) officially opened its new drop-in centre at 4391, rue Laval with a potluck supper. About thirty women attended. By August 1975, Labyris had eighty- two members, but on August 19 the group's centre was destroyed by fire. Arson was suspected. The group met temporarily at the Women's Information and Referral Centre, 3595, rue St. Urbain. Labyris Montreal did not easily recover, as members drifted away. By the spring of 1976 the group was almost dormant and in July 1976 changed its name to Gay Women of Montreal — Labyris.
