Description

Summer Ontario The Toronto Star covered Judith Quinlan and Ellen Woodsworth's new bookmobile initiative. The two women quit their jobs for the summer and converted a school bus to travel to small towns in central and southern Ontario to bring feminist books to small towns. The collection focused on the history of women in Canada, birth control, day care, food pricing, and feminist literature and poetry. To raise money for the project, Quinlan and Woodsworth sold photocopies of articles at a penny a piece, but most women, even if interested in the articles and books, could not afford to buy copies.
