August 17-25 Canada The third annual Gay Pride Week was held to reaffirm the goals set in the "We Demand" demonstration on Parliament Hill in Ottawa on August 28,1971, and to celebrate the fifth anniversary of the Criminal Code amendments. Political, cultural, and social events were held in larger gay centres across the country.
