Description

May 29 Toronto Fifteen gays, including members of GATE (Toronto) and GATE (Vancouver), attended the York Riding nomination meeting of David Lewis, leader of the New Democratic Party, held in preparation for the July 8 federal election. The gays leafleted the crowd. After Lewis delivered his acceptance speech, he was questioned from the floor about his thoughts on federal laws, such as the Immigration Act, which discriminated against gays. Mr. Lewis replied that he would favour the repeal of legislation that discriminated against any minority, including homosexuals, and that anti-gay laws should be repealed.
