September Toronto The Club Baths, the first of the modern gay-operated bathhouses in Canada, opened at 231 Mutual Street. Owned by Peter Maloney and associates, the operation was affiliated with the Club Baths chain in the United States. Over the next few years, the Club chain would spread to other cities in Canada, from Montréal to Vancouver.
