Description
September Ottawa The Coral Reef, 30 Nicholas Street, was the only gay club in Ottawa that allowed both drinking and dancing and as a result was very popular. In September, the club's management decided to turn the Coral Reef into a bar for students. "Obvious" gays were banned and admission was restricted to students with an identification card. This new policy did not last long, and by February 1974 the Coral Reef was gay again.
