Description

August 29 Victoria, B.C. Maurice Flood and Fred Gilbertson of GATE (Vancouver) and George Nicola, a gay activist from Oregon, met with B.C. Minister of Labour William King to discuss civil rights for gays, and protection from discrimination based on sexual orientation as an addition to the provincial Human Rights Act. The minister rejected the group's requests and declared that homosexuality should not have explicit legal sanction. (See also November 7,1973.)
