Description

November 7 Victoria, B.C. The provincial NDP government passed a revised Human Rights Act that did not include specific protection against discrimination based on sexual orientation. Labour Minister William King stated that gays were not protected in the Act specifically because he did not want to give homosexuality legal sanction. King did believe, however, that gays would be protected from discrimination by the "reasonable cause" section of the new Act. (See also November 8, 1973.)
