September 29 Vancouver A workshop on discrimination and the B.C. Human Rights Act was held by the B.C. Civil Liberties Association. Representatives from thirty organizations, including two gay/lesbian groups — Gay Alliance toward Equality (GATE) (Vancouver) and Gay People of UBC — formulated recommendations for improving the B.C. Human Rights Act. The resolutions, which included extending the Act to protect people from discrimination based on sexual orientation, were sent to the provincial government.
