Description
February Winnipeg The first gay movement organization in Manitoba, Gays for Equality (GFE), was officially founded by Phil Graham, a student at the University of Manitoba, who had previously been involved with FREE: Gay Liberation of Minnesota at the University of Minnesota. The Manitoba group was known as the Campus Gay Club until early 1973, when it changed its name to reflect an increasingly political stance. By 1973, GFE offered drop-ins, counselling, a speaker's bureau, lectures, political actions, a library, a gayline, and dances.
