Description

December 9 Vancouver In a speech before a meeting of about fifty representatives of twenty-three human rights groups, MLA Rosemary Brown (NDP -Vancouver-Burrard) recognized homosexuals as an oppressed group seeking human rights. This is believed to be the first occasion in Canada that an elected politician made unsolicited remarks on gay rights, and tied gays in with other groups engaged in civil rights struggles.
