August 21 Ottawa "We Demand," a brief prepared by the August 28th Gay Day Committee of TGA and sponsored by Canadian gay groups, was presented to the federal government. The thirteen-page brief contained ten points calling for law reform and changes in public policy relating to homosexuals. It asked that the terms "gross indecency" and "indecent act" be removed from the Canadian Criminal Code and be replaced by a list of specific offences, and that gay people be allowed to serve openly in the Canadian armed forces.
