February (late) Waterloo, Ont. The Waterloo Universities' Gay Liberation Movement (GLM) was formed by eight students from the University of Waterloo and Waterloo Lutheran (later Wilfrid Laurier) University. John Dunbar became the first president of the group. The first official meeting of Waterloo GLM was held on March 8, 1971, at Hagey Hall, University of Waterloo. The GLM sponsored speakers, pub nights, discussion groups, film nights, a newsletter (GLM Newsletter), a magazine (Gemini), and private parties.
