February 12-13 Downsview, Ont. YUHA and Radio York sponsored a forum on homosexuality that included as speakers Rev. Troy Perry of the Metropolitan Community Church, Los Angeles, and Dr. Franklin Kameny, president of the Washington, D.C., Mattachine Society. About 250 people attended the event, which also included movies and a dance held at Winters College. This was the first large-scale forum on homosexuality held at a Canadian University. It was ignored by the mainstream Toronto newspapers. (see also February 24,1971.)
