February Edmonton Club '70, a private social club operated and managed by and for lesbians and gays, opened at 10242 106th Street N.W. The club sponsored bar nights, dances, discussions, and other social events, as well as a newsletter. Club '70, one of the first registered private lesbian and gay clubs in Canada, had 241 members by October 1971. It was active until 1980.
