December 31 Vancouver The ASK Community Centre opened at 1929 Kingsway with a Centennial New Year's Eve Ball. This was the first community social centre in Canada run by a homophile organization. The Centre provided space for business and executive meetings, a lending library, facilities for the production of the ASK Newsletter, some counselling and referral services, as well as a place for regular dances and speakers.
