Pauline Jewett
Biography
Pauline Jewett was an educator and politician. She was the president of Simon Fraser University in the 70s--the first woman to head a major Canadian university. She was also the vice-president of the national Liberal party in the 60s, and later an NDP MP for the New Westminster-Coquitlam riding. In a 1981 House of Commons meeting, she referred to the group Renaissance Ontario, a right-wing anti abortion and homosexuality group, as a hate organization.
