Biography
Gerald Bonham was a Public Health administrators, advocate, and writer. In the fall of 1977 he requested that Vancouver city staff remove doors from all the cubicles in the El Toro bathhouse. Bonham was motivated by concern over the number of syphilis cases in B.C. gay men, and thought the removal of the doors would discourage sexual contact with strangers.
