Description

September 13 Toronto A gay rights march was organized by CGRO to demand the reinstatement of John Damien and the inclusion of a sexual orientation clause in the Ontario Human Rights Code. The 250-300 people who marched from Queen's Park to City Hall were addressed by more than a dozen speakers, including John Damien. Although almost one-third of the marchers were women, Chris Bearchell of GATE (Toronto) and the Committee to Defend John Damien was the only female speaker. The march was not reported in Toronto's mainstream media. This event was part of CGRO'S preparations for the September 18 Ontario provincial election.
