March 7 Toronto The membership of CHAT elected its first board of directors. Since its inception, CHAT had been directed by a steering committee, and later an interim board. The new board consisted of George Hislop (president), Pat Murphy (vice-president), Clive Bell (treasurer), Kathleen Brindley (secretary), and six general members. Of the ten board members, five were female.
