Description

Autumn Saskatoon The Gay Students Alliance (GSA) was formed at the University of Saskatchewan, GSA was campus-oriented, while GATE (Saskatoon) was targeted at the general community. Soon, members of GSA and GATE (Saskatoon) began to plan a new organization that would coordinate social services and activities for the gay community; the Zodiac Friendship Society emerged by January 1972. Many of the same people — Bruce Garman, Doug Hellquist, Dan Nalbach, and Erv (later Tom) Warner — were organizers of all these groups, and were connected to the University as either students or staff. (see also January 1972 and October 1972.)
